Well, I guess archiving isn’t the right wording. I would prefer not to have more than one page on my domain named index.htm. In the big picture it doesn’t matter, I know. I would like to be able to name each of the galleries index page with the respected gallery name instead of index. This is strictly a personal preference that I have on page naming convention.
If any one knows how to change this in the gallery template so when it goes through the automation it will rename the file automatically I would appreciate it.

That is not entirely correct. Depending on the configuration of the web server, you may not be able to access folders (403 – forbidden), if you only use links pointing to the folder, but not the actual HTML file, which is often common practice for galleries and dynamically generated pages. The server may therefore need the root level files for any given directory to have a specific name. Anyway, renaming the files should not pose a problem, if you do full links. I just wouldn’t do it for web galleries created automatically from PS – you’d have to take care of moving around a few other files as well and possibly even renaming the images, so they have unique names, which seems a lot of work with no real additional benefit.

There are could be hundreds of subpages in a gallery and I’m trying to avoid going back and redoing the link to each of the main pages. Every subpage points to the main page or the index page that PS creates. I can go and manually rename the index page but then the home button that is generated during the automation on each of the sub pages needs to be changed as well. I’m trying to avoid this.
Let me explain what I’m trying to accomplish. In the root of the domain I plan on having my index page (with a brief description about the company). Then I plain to have a few other pages including a gallery page. This is going to be the main page for all my galleries. Images will be places here that will link to the main page of each of the galleries that are created. Also on the root there will be a folder named "XYZ". This is were all the galleries will be placed under there own sub folders.
If you have Dreamweaver, these things are not an issue – it tracks links and will update references whenever you rename something. Since it seems you are building a business around it, investing those 400 bucks or so might be well worth the effort. Beyond that you will probably have better luck attacking the matter on the web side of things, anyways. It is certainly possible to modify those scripts, but considering that you just as well could find a a fully dynamic, template-based Flash web gallery, this does strike me as a more feasible solution. Ultimately you’ll spend a lot of time if you always want to update all links manually…

Maybe something is wrong with my install then. If I rename the index file the subpages still look for the index.htm file when the home button is clicked. The code on the subpages does not change.
I’m modifying one of the pre-made galleries in PS so I don’t have to modify all the links after the fact. I have made almost all the modifications that I want to make in reference to the look of the gallery in the html page. I just have this one mod left.
Did you define your hierarchy correctly as a site? Are you using perhaps any JavaScript links?
