I use PSCS3 for one year without any problem. And now, when trying to open jpg or psd files I get this message:
"cannot open photoshop.exe because DLBCGF.DLL is absent" When I click away this message a few (10 ) times, the file does open…?

I searched for this file and copied it into system 32 and another time into photoshop itself without any result.

A desinstallation and reïnstallation of PSCS3 didn’t help.

Raw files do open without any problem.

Any help is more then welcome !

Maybe reset preferences per the FAQ?

What info I could dig up, suggests that it is a Lexmark or Dell printer driver, so the logical conclusion would be to install that printer correctly. Obviously the base DLL is looking for other hooks in other libraries and throws the errors multiple times if it cannot find those extra files.

Indeed,it refers to the Dell printer, which I have.
I will deInstall and reïnstall the soft.

Sorry, I don’t understand your second sentence, can you please formulate it for me whome English is his third language..

I desinstalled en reïnstalled Dell photoprinter but the problem is not solved. Keeps the asking to DLBCGF.DLL

Resetting Photoshop preferences doesn’t solve the problem either.

What else can I do?

Sounds like the OS is still looking for that printer driver. You’ll have to contact Dell and ask them for help with their driver.

To explain: DLLs are a collection of executable code bits, but not necessarily a single file contains all bits and pieces for a given operation. Whenever a program requests a certain function from one DLL, this may mean that in turn that function may go on the lookout for another sub-function it needs. So if e.g. in your situation you open up a file, it will call up a specific piece of the printer driver, probably looking for color profile information/ color metrics. These snippets then might call another segment of a DLL, which contains either a settings panel to make adjustments or switch to another color profile, settings for paper size and rasterization, ink status monitor and whatnot. If you will, you could imagine it as a family of parents, children, brothers and sisters and even remote cousins who on their own can achieve nothing, but when combining their wits and individual strengths can give you a certain functionality.

Thanks for help.
Dell support says to update the drivers. When I try this I get an error: Script: C:Dell 720\dlbcEN.vbs
error:Can’t find class WScript.Shell
code:80020009
Source: WScript.CreateObject

Weird is that I can open recently made jpg’s and PSD’s…
