It’s in Bridge under Output > Web Gallery.
I am aware there is one in Bridge as I mentioned in my original post, however it’s nowhere near as good as the one that was in Photoshop plus all but 1 of the styles is flash based which cannot be printed out.
Look in the Goodies folder on the DVD.

There must be a reason why Adobe recommend using the current (CS4) version as opposed to the legacy version.
Adobe would like us all to appreciate that their new Web Browser creation feature in Bridge CS4 is great. After all.. it’s borrowed from LightRoom (which I personnaly do not care for). But having already crafted so many customized templates using the original ‘Web Photo Gallery’ route, I’m VERY happy that I can continue doing the same with CS4 via the optional plugins in the Goodies folder. Kudos to Adobe for offering a way to continue doing some things the old fashioned way 😉
The new Website tools in CS4 Bridge are GREAT and I will certainly use them for making whizz-bang browsers for friends I want to impress. They just don’t fit in with what works for me with my boring clients who just want to see the pix and make a choice quickly without having to install Flash. I’m happy Adobe has not pulled the plug on Photoshop’s original ‘Web Photo Gallery’.
Now… if they could only get Daryl Pritchard’s ‘excellent’ Phototools hack to work again I would be even happier 😉

All I’ve seen are predefined layouts and not much in the way of customizable templates (ie the old way) that one can easily modify.

I just got off the phone with Adobe Technical Support as we got the downloadable version which does not include the goodies DVD to see if there was a way to get that plugin specifically.
I was told by the person that I spoke to that the Web Photo Gallery was not one of the plugins included on the goodies DVD.
We are wanting to get two additional copies that would include the DVD but I hesitate to do so without making sure that such an important feature is truly available.
Does anyone know if there is a place to download these plugins from Adobe?

The plug-ins there are exactly the same as those I downloaded from the link Adobe originally provided for my Photoshop CS4 upgrade. The file name after download is PHSPCS4_Cont_LS1.exe.
After downloading and executing that file the Adobe CS4 folder (default location) on my desktop contained a subfolder named Photoshop Content which has the same files as the .zip in your link. So, you do get the files with the Photoshop CS4 download, but you must download the 2nd file, too, and not just the link for Photoshop.
The ‘header’ for the link to the content file says:
"Download contains additional Photoshop value-added content including optional plug-ins, sample files, textures, and web swatches, not included with the trial version.
Windows, Multiple Languages"
I just installed the web photo gallery into photoshop cs4 from the goodies file, but I can’t find out how to start it up. Any suggestions?
Just follow the instruction of the readme document. Check Photoshop File->Automate->Web Photo Gallery…
I download PHSPCS4_Cont_LS1.dmg from my download list on my account.
I’m using MAC al I get is two subfolders under Goodies folder.
I tried draging them where I thought they should be and re-load PS4 –but NG
You will have to pull out the ContactSheetII.8LI and WebContactSheetII.8LI files and put them in Plug-ins > Automate under the Photoshop CS4 folder.
I’m having similar problems. I’m on a mac. I put the Content disc in, and went to Goodies-Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended-Optional Plug-ins-Automate. There are three files there (ContactSheetll.plugin, PhotomergeUI.plugin, and WebContactSheetll.plugin. When I click on each of the files, I get the message: Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file. Can anyone give me help here?

After following the instructions and installing all the files, the Web Photo Gallery item appears under both Photoshop’s Automate menu and the Bridge’s Tools menu.
However, photoshop does not have access to the images selected in Bridge.
When I select the images in bridge and then Tools > Photoshop > Web Photo Gallery, Bridge opens photoshop and nothing else happens.
When I select the Web Photo Gallery from Photoshop’s Automate menu, I can only select files from a Folder, and Bridge is greyed out as an option.
I use Bridge to rearrange my galleries before exporting to the web, so saving the files to a folder first is not an option.
Any ideas? Solutions?

@STEVE: You will need to copy the files to the same folder inside of the applications folder on your computer. You can not run them like an executable file.
@ANDRE: The web photo gallery doesn’t work in that manner. If you are wanting to use Bridge to select photos you will have to use the gallery that is included Bridge CS4. This is located under the "Output" tab at the top of bridge. It lacks some of the ability to deeply customize the template but you are still able to change colors, text, etc.

I use a highly customized one, which uses the lightbox javascript to open images in the same page.
Seems like there’s a way to add more HTML galleries. Where is the documentation/tools for customization?

Also, @Brad,
I installed the contactsheet II plugin and bridge script included along with the web gallery one and that script DOES send the files selected in Bridge to Photoshop.
I can’t imagine the intended behavior is to lose the selection from Bridge and just open photoshop. That would be a "Switch to Photoshop" button and contrary to all Bridge > Tools menu script behaviors.
Is it possible it is a bug?

I guess your old templates will also be in a similar location.
I have been following this thread, but what I need also is the security feature that add proof or custom security text across the photo in the web gallery. I do not see that option in the CS4 plugin.

To retore Web Photo Gallery functionality:
Close Photoshop and use Explorer to view the extra stuff on the CS4 install DVD.
Here’s what you need to copy from the Photoshop CS4 install disk and where it goes:
1. copy "Goodies\Optional plug-ins\Plug-ins 32-bit\Automate\WebContactSheetII" plug-in to the "Adobe Photoshop CS4/Plugins/Automate" folder (note there’s a 64bit version in the Plug-ins 64-bit folder if that’s what you’re using)
in my case it goes into "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Presets\"
2. copy "Goodies\Presets\Web Photo Gallery" folder (the whole FOLDER) into the "Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets" folder
I then have "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Presets\Web Photo Gallery\"
(This is the part that adds the default templates to choose from)
To add functionality to Bridge (xp and vista destination folders are a bit different):

Thanks Russell! That worked great! Now I’ll start actually using CS4 that I’ve had for a couple of weeks now. This was the major reason I have continued with CS3 because using the PS Web Photo Gallery control panel in Bridge and being able to use my HTML/CSS customized templates was important to me and how I do business. I sure hope Adobe isn’t trying to eliminate this important feature and replace it with flash files that have drastically reduced editing options. It would also be nice if it was part of the initial installation without all this surgery.
I run the Web Photo Gallery right from Photoshop, so I didn’t need the extra Bridge work.

The nice thing about doing it from Bridge is that you can skip the step of navigating to the source folder (from the Photoshop Web Photo Gallery dialogue) as you can just hit Ctrl+A within Bridge to select everything in a folder, or use Bridge’s rating feature to display and select just the ones that you want, or use Ctrl+Click on only the ones you want used to create a browser.
While the Web Photo Gallery might not make the prettiest browsers (especially my preferred ‘Simple’ template), I find it useful for creating simple and editable (basic HTML) image browsers for sharing images with clients for discussion.

Many thank to Dennis. I spent ages trying to find out where to add information to be displayed with each image in the web photogallery in Bridge CS4, because I couldn’t believe it wasn’t possible. I’ve now installed the plug-in and can create the type of galleries I’m used to.
Two queries, however, for all you people out there that are better at this than I am:
Can I prevent the file names displaying in the finished galleries? I don’t think I found a way of doing this previously – just made sure the filenames were not something silly. Deselecting the tick box doesn’t seem to work.
Secondly, something which probably belongs in a Flash (or Firefox) support forum: Why can I view the index page created by the gallery wizard in IE and see the swf file but not in Firefox, which shhows me an error page asking me to download an updated Flash player. Since I’ve just spent a lot of money on Adobe CS4 (which includes Flash), it seems unlikely to be something to do with my Flash player!

Sorry – just in case anyone decided to think about the above. I’ve found a way around the problem by linking to the swf file directly rather than the index page within the gallery (which was what you had to do previously – I think!). Anyway – problem solved. Perhaps I need to find a forum for slow-witted people……..
When i make a flash web photo gallery at the start always show me this message "Please upgrade your Flash Player.

upgrade your flash player. or are you using something like "noscript" or adaware to block it? or if you’re trying to run it from the local machine (as opposed to a web site you uploaded to) there might be a permissions problems.
The message is in flashobject.js in flash code and it is config to appear always at the start . I dont know flash code so i cant remove it..

I am on a mac, I took the plug ins out of the goodies folder to create web galleries, and yes, the web photo gallery plugins inside the presets folder are in the plug in folder as well…. when I launch photoshop and go automate, web gallery… I get this warning: "There is not template folder to run web photo gallery"
