I’m installing PS CS4 on Visat 64-bit. The first time I tried installing it the setup stopped when it was loading the Language pack for Device Central. I started the installation over again and removed Device central from the install and then started it again. This time it got almost to the end of install but it then stopped again when it was trying to install the Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack_x64.

Has anyone else loading CS4 had this problem in Vista 64-bit?

There is a noticeable pause during the Language Pack parts of the installation, where there is no apparent activity from the DVD or the HDD.

Just wait!

As John said – be patient. The language packs are all in one hunky archive which needs to be extracted completely before finally installing the appropriate version for your chosen language. If it for some reason doesn’t go through, I can only fall back on my standard advice: Remove everything Adobe first before trying new installs, including things like Acrobat, Adobe Media player or remnants of CS3.

Unfortunatly, I get a message that setup needs to stop, and there is no option to continue on, I didn’t make that clear in my post. It’s not just taking a long time, I’m getting a new window stating that setup is stopping and going to close.

Ryan ,rebooting the system and reinstalling PS CS4 might solve this issue and is there some place where you can share the screenshot of the error message you are recieving ?

Mmh, if it complains, then at least it’s working as designed. Are you perhaps low on temporary disk space? do you do anything on the side during install?

Ryan: I feel your pain, after just purchasing CS4 and attempting to install it on my perfectly set up XP x64 system only to find that CS4 was not supported on XP 64bit *sigh* I was reluctantly forced to reformat and switch to Vista (x64)..only to have the exact same problem you are having.

The installer somewhat works as when you install programs individually…eventually you can get what you need installed. However, this is only after running the installer 6 different times to install one app at a time (the installer crashes each time).

The installer crashes at installing "CS4 English Language Pack_x64".

I am installing on a fresh Vista x64 installation on a Mac Pro, all drivers installed properly.

You may want to pop over to the Mac forum and see if anyone there can help you out. You don’t say if you’re using bootcamp, Parallels or VMWare but I would certainly mention it there.

I have this (newly) installed on XP-64, dual Opteron workstation. Though there are some issues and lag, I can still process most images. I did get some messages during installation that some items might not function properly, but I suspect it may be due to a Matrox graphics card without GPU acceleration.

I can still process most images

I find that statement troubling when talking about the top image editing app on the planet. i’m waiting for the dust to settle.

Hey Dave, I read some while ago you tried CS4 Trial, How’s it working on your XP comp?

Haven’t read your experience with it and am curious. 🙂

I have the same problem on a 32-bit XP machine. I’ve worked on it for 12 hours total and I got nowhere, except that I can install each app individually. The installer still crashes at the language pack part, but the apps seem to be installed. Typical Adobe.

I found this on another forum:

I hit the same issue, and finally resolved it by selecting "Install Trial Version" instead of entering the license code at setup time. (I did make sure that I had uninstalled everything first and rebooted my PC).

Once I did that, the install proceeded to completion, and was then able to activate the software after launching one of the main apps.

Report back and let us know if this helps your situation.
