I cannot see my lines, paint or clone results after selecting and using any of these tools. The history shows that I have used them but I cannot view the results on my screen. I can select a tool such as paint brush or pen and draw on my image but I cannot see where I have just drawn or painted. This is also the case with the dodge/burn and clone tools. Any global changes such as contrast, color or brightness will work fine, it’s just the tools.

I have tried reinstalling Photoshop (CS3) as well as did a clean install of Windos XP Pro SP3. Changed video cards and updated all bios and drivers. I am out of ideas of where to turn to next and have deadlines rapidly approaching so time is of the essence. PLEASE, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a Wacom tablet connected?

Yes actually I do. Why?

If you are using the pen keep the mouse well away from the tablet and vice versa. This may cure the problem.

You could also try temporarily disconnecting the tablet to see if the problem is there.

Updating drivers can also help.

This happens to me when I leave the pen laying on the tablet. And that the proper layer is selected.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I unplugged the tablet, started PS, loaded an image and painted all over it and could see every line. I feel so stupid but then again how the hell would I know that it would do that? I used to leave the tablet mouse off to one side of the tablet but we literally had a hurricane come through here (Houston) not long ago and we moved stuff around to prepare for it and the mouse got put on top of the tablet where it has sat until John mentioned this. I remember this happening to me once before but never actually figured out what had caused it. It just started working again so I stopped trying to duplicate the problem as I was just so relieved that I could work again.

When it happened again and I spent a week after work every day and two weekends then my wife said, "hey why don’t you go on line on one of those forums and see if anyone can help". I love that woman.

Thank you so much John, MUCH appreciated!
