I bought Adobe CS2 a few years ago, but my computer died and I’ve been trying to put it on my new computer with Windows Vista.

Mainly, I’m just trying to get the Photoshop to work, but the other programs would be really nice as well.

Every time I try to start photoshop, this error message comes up: "Your Adobe Photoshop User name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit."

I have no idea what to do. I know my serial number is right because I e-mailed adobe for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

did you install the app normally? i.e. from the disk either with autorun or running setup.exe directly? or did you just copy it over from an old machine or backup?

it needs to be fully installed by it’s installer (setup.exe) to work properly.

I installed it right from the disks – basically did the same thing I did the first time I installed it. I was wondering if there were some sort of kinks with vista or something. I don’t know. I called the customer support, but they said it was too old of a program for them to help.

Turn off UAC and then start CS2 and activate it, then turn UAC back on. Otherwise it doesn’t get activated properly.

I uninstalled everything, turned the UAC off, then installed everything again and activated it….Still won’t work. Same message. Same problem.

I don’t know if this will help, but check out the adobe clean script. follow the instructions:

32 or 64 bit Vista? What version of Vista?

Finally, since it hasn’t been pointed out in this thread, CS2 is completely unsupported under Vista though many people are running it successfully.

I have run into the exactly the same problem as Lori in trying to install CS2 onto my new 64-bit Vista machine. It installs, it updates, it activates…everything… but it doesn’t work. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled…same dilemma.

Any miracles out there for me? Thanks.

what’s wrong? inset the disks and install. you do have the serial number right? if not, did you register? if not, you’re in trouble.
