I’m not a newbie, but I feel like one. I’ve added text to my jpg but now I cannot edit, move or do anything to my text. All I get is a very large cursor that will highlight 1 letter. I get the "I" to do text but I can’t edit. I’m using photoshop 7.0. The layer is not locked by the way. Do I have an incorrect setting. Appreciate the help

JPGs can’t retain editable text, so if you saved it as a JPG after creating text, the text is now part of the image and not editable. Look at your layers palette. If the text is editable, you’ll see a big "T" in the layer’s icon.

Thanks! But, the layer does show a large T.

Double click that large T.

Double-click as Bob says.

Check the Leading in the Character palette.

And check that the value for Baseline (also in the Character Palette) is set to "0".

Or maybe just reset the Character Palette from the drop-down menu.

Thank you All. Apparantly I could not change my existing text becase it was part of the background and not a separate layer. I got a real good education with my troubles and with all your help. Mahalo!
