Please clearly write out with full details every step you perform to cause this error alert box to appear.

Obviously you are working with some of the advanced brush properties, but without further details it is indeed impossible to provide clues why you are receiving the message. Pleas provide some more info.

reset the brush tool and the specific brush, if that doesn’t work, reset the prefs per the faq.

Is there any way to clear all settings to default?

Yes, BF, there’s an entry in the FAQ section of this forum, linked at the top of the thread index which explains how to do that. But often, it’s not needed.

The better option, By Far, is to see if you can learn what caused the problem in the first place. If you do a careful analysis of the steps you take which produces that error you saw, you should gain some insight about that process in particular, and into photoshop in general.

I’m 99.99% positive that this is just a simple user error, that you simply don’t know exactly what you’re doing yet. No big dealΒ—we’ve all been there.

If you can’t figure it out on your own, do as I suggested before…Post a detailed list of steps of how to reproduce the error. We’ll get it figured out for you.

yes. go to the faq and read the 2nd topic, it’s how to reset photoshop’s preferences.

BF…what’s preventing you from doing a little snooping around in the FAQ section by yourself?

Do you want everything handed to you, with no effort of your own?

And I’m curious about why you don’t want to learn anything about what might have caused you to see the error in the first place?

Just throwing out prefs every time you run up against something that confuses you is a fool’s erand, because you will be doing it again and again and again and again.

…. and it may not fix the problem if it’s operator error!

But he doesn’t want to know that. B)
