Because I can’t find another place to put this. I Hate the help files. When they were on my hard drive in a nice organized document, I could find an answer in no time. Now help makes me scream for help because it’s the absolute worst help feature ever. I would love to have my help files back at my fingertips. Now, I have to go the internet site that takes me aound and around and around and around without giving me an answer. Horrible. Adobe, what are you doing? PLEASE, don’t torture me everyting time I have a quick question. I can’t spend 20 minutes to find an answer that used to take me 30 seconds!

You could download the PDF version and check it locally. If you are working offline, you could see the local Help file.

Thanks, Kathy.
After I wrote this in a state of immense frustration from three days of customer service hell, I realized that I jumped to the conclusion, in my negative frame of mind, that Adobe had removed the help files.
Sorry folks.
I believe it is more likely that this might have been an option during installation, to download the help files. Or, there is another method to get to them. So, if any body knows how to access the help files in CS4, please let me know.

Thanks very much.

I read somewhere that, if you are not connected to the Internet, the local Help pages will open. I,haven’t tried it because I like the web-based help at the moment.

Hi Joann,

The help files are installed locally, and you don’t need to specify it as an option. If you don’t have Internet connectivity, then you will get the local help files.

Try unplugging your ethernet connection and then looking at the address in the browser. This should be the local location. If you want a way for this to always show up (without having to unplug) instead of the internet based help, it can be done with a very simple script. The downside is the local help is static and not as accurate as the web help.

Do you use scripts at all?
