Where is your obj file layer?

Photoshop is not a 3D creating app. you need to read the manual.

Did you make a 3D object in a 3D application? and load that in Photoshop?

if not then you can’t use the 3D functions in Photoshop extended.

You still need to read the manual. any more discussion with you about this is a complete waste of time unless you understand what the 3D functions of Photoshop encompass.

Milos: you have to use a format that is accepted, there is a list of importable file types, just save your original out as that, be advised that it is not true 3D, I use Maya and know the difference. Cute toy though!

Hi Milos,

What OS and video card do you have? It shouldn’t generally matter but helps to have a few details. Can you look at Help> System Info… and see if installed plug-ins include Collada 11.0 and Photoshop 3D Engine 11.0?

The basic steps to get a 3D postcard do NOT require a 3D model. You can also create one from a background layer.

1) select a layer (can be background layer)
2) go to 3D> New 3D Postcard From Layer

BTW, this is new to CS4, and isn’t an option in CS3.

How much RAM does your laptop have? And how much do you have set for Ps usage in the Performance section of Preferences?

you can’t use the 3D menu unless you have opened a 3D .obj file.

Have you read the manual yet?

Hi Buko,

I helped with the manual 😉

3D basics (Photoshop Extended)

You can also create 3D content from scratch within Photoshop, using a 2D layer as a starting point:

* Wrap 2D layers around a variety of shape presets, such as cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones, or pyramids.
* Create 3D postcards (planes which you can position and light in 3D space). * Create 3D meshes from grayscale or text layers
