Photoshop CS4 Crashing Consistantly

Seems CS4 just can’t handle me having more than just a few high resolution files open at the same time before it crashes. My photos are fairly "process heavy" with multiple layers and text etc., but still not overly huge files that this should behappening all the time. Never happened in CS3. Crashes seem to happen when doing things like adding text or resizing objects. Any thoughts? I’m running Vista 32 on an HP Laptop with a brand new hard drive and loads of RAM and space….

a) See if it happens on a new admin account. Just go into Control Panel and make a new one to test to see if it happens there.

b) Remove ALL 3rd party plugins. That means your PS Plug-ins folder should have only 12 folders total remaining in it. See if it happens then.

c) Go to Start. Type MSConfig into your Start Search bar and press Enter.

In the system configuration utility click on the services tab. Check the box that says hide all Microsoft services. Press Disable All. Put a check back into the service called FlexNet Licensing Service. Click on the Startup tab. Press Disable All here as well. Press OK. Restart your computer when it asks. Now see if it happens this way, too.

0xc0000005 is a code related to Ram in Vista 32 bit. As Ender stated if you turn some things off it may help.

If not try amending DEP to not run with CS4 exe. I did this from past experience with other software that was clashing with DEP.

You might, but I doupt, have a defective ram modual. Vista, in administrative tools, has a memory diagnostic tool. Just click and follow the instructions.

I have an idea, how about asking Adobe not to rush unfinished products to the consumer!

Most of these crashes have been traced to bugs in third party plugins (disable them or get updates), or corrupt typefaces (and Adobe is looking into those).

Cooked: PSCS4 works perfectly here, you sniping is off base.

John: Do a RAM test with MemSet to see if there are errors, while it is not a hardware test, it is a very robust software test.

SAVE YOUR FILES(often) PEOPLE. CS4 is upto something.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at … by the way, it is not just photoshop CS4. I seem to have some problems with Dreamweaver CS4 as well.

Hanging application Dreamweaver.exe, version 10.0.0.4117, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

one thing to note: having too many fonts does make PS crash. Move fonts that you are not going to use.

Having cheap/bad/corrupt/malformed fonts does make PS crash.
