I suspect you experts are about to send Len’s link on how to find this, so let me head you off at the pass(or path, in this case). You see, the path mentioned in the link:

Documents and Settings\[user profile]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Settings

exists nowhere on my computer. I have no "Application Data" folder. Nor do I have an "Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs.psp" file, even though I’ve searched for it everywhere, even by *.psp

I’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling and running 7.0.1 updater with no effect. This is the case on both a W2k and XP machine…both are Dell Workstations, with the latter brand new.

Any ideas?

application data is a hidden folder. you need to turn that on in windows explorer. Tools> Folder Options> View> Show hidden files and folders.

Jim…

Just in case you’re referring to some other link from Len, and don’t know about the official Adobe Support document on preference locations, Check here, and bookmark it <http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/6712.htm>.

Well, they have to exist. First, check this KB Article:

<http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/6712.htm>

Second, make sure you are able to view hidden and system files through explorer. You need to search for *.PSP.

Now, from what I’ve read, XP’s search is "optimized" so that means that it doesn’t find a lot of file types – don’t know if there’s a fix for that, I only have a laptop on XP and never bothered to chase that down. But that may be one reason why a search may not come up with the files so…

They *have* to be there…

Yep, Dave gets the gold star…hidden folder option cinched it.

Yes, I was referring to the "official" link that YrbkMgr provided. They *have* to be there is quite right!

Thanks to all for prompt attention(including Phosphor) – your bonuses are in the email.

Glad you’re getting it sorted, mate.

Ain’t it funny how obvious things seem when we have them pointed out to us?!

And, umm…I’m kinda hungry. Could you send me my bonus in coupons for free all-you-can-eat shrimp and scallops?
