Craig, you seem to have your terminology confused.

You can upgrade to CS4 from CS3 for $199. There have been no updates to CS4 as of yet.

If I had it to do over, I’d put off upgrading to CS4 until they’ve fixed the bugs that many on this forum are experiencing. You might want to consider doing the same.

And what would you gain by waiting? You can still use CS3 anytime you want and you now have CS4 for those things that do work for you.

In short, for anyone who’s going to upgrade at some point there is no reason at all to wait.

1) I would gain back all of the time I’ve lost over the last month.

2) I would gain back the money that I’ve invested in CS4 if the problems don’t get solved.

3) My blood pressure would have been normal.

Had I known that CS4 was so dependent on having just the right video card/driver and system, I might not have upgraded at all. Adobe, IMO, took a step into the unknown with this OpenGL stuff. I read the list of new features and watched the podcast. I figured that things like animated zoom and sharp at all magnifications were a given. Wrong. I also figured that dragging a window would result in me being able to see the content of that window after dragging. Wrong.

No where did Adobe warn us that OpenGL is kinda touchy. Good marketing? Yes. Honest? No. I cannot believe that none of these problems showed up in beta testing. Why does Adobe now have a list of video cards that will run CS4 successfully? I don’t recall that happening before, and I’ve been using PS since ver. 4. They should have posted that list in the system requirements if they knew that people might have problems.

Sorry for the rant, but I’m a little cranky about this.
