I’m running an LCD as my primary monitor and a CRT secondary, and I want to calibrate the secondary monitor with Adobe gamma. Are there any issues I should look out for here? I seem to remember some, but I can’t find any in this newsgroup.

thanks,
paul

Paul,

I’m not sure, but I think it depends on the physical setup of your dual mon system. If there is only one card with a dual head, you may have trouble calibrating for one and not the other monitor. Additionally, I seem to recall that AG will only work on what is considered (in Device Manager) your primary vid card and the second one won’t be touched. So install your functional "secondary" destined for the CRT first, AG it, then install the second card/monitor. Move the pallets where you like.

Now, I’m not sure of the above, that’s just what I seem to recall.

Peace,
Tony

Adobe Gamma will create a profile that is used for both monitors in WinXP (ie, you can’t have separate profiles for each monitor). So running AG on your secondary (using the appropriate profile as a starting point) will set up the profile for colour correction on that monitor – the side effect is that the same profile will be used for your primary (in this case the LCD), so there may be some weird results <grin>
