Hi all,
I am trying to restore this image <http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=f303Faxza8o>

As you can see the grey smudge mark is quite large, I have tried median, Surface blur dust/ scratch, gausion blur etc, but to no avail. I also tried clone and patch but looks worse.
Any ideas please, really desperate to fix this for my wife.

Is their any good plugins for this type of thing?

Thankyou in advance

josel

Josel:

It looks like it should be pretty easy to remove with the healing brush. It’s hard to tell what detail is present in the image from your video post. Maybe post a cropped version of your photo to pixentral.com and we can see what works best.

Here is the link here < http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1V4Z1QEdMFPfnlp9Jw f2dVbAoaniCc1>

The image does not show the females dress in detail as it has lots of surface scratches.

Thank you

I used the d&s filter to get rid of a lot of the scratches. Duplicate layer, apply d&s filter by first pull threshold to 0, then moving radius to where it kills off dirt, then threshold to 999, then move it back down toward 0 until the dust starts to wash away. Then apply a layer mask and invert is so the layer is fully hidden. Then using a small brush, paint it back in, where dust is present. The larger blemishes will have to worked on with a combination of the healing brush and the clone stamp brush where edges are present (the woman’s wrist).
