I am looking for help on a glossy button for web, that looks round in one image and sunk in in the other.

I can find a ton for tutorials on making the button, but don’t know how to make it look sunk in.

Any suggestions would be great! I’m using the 2 images for a rollover.

TIA
Karleen

Such buttons are normally made with a "Bevel and Emboss" style applied.

This is a ready-made one from Photoshop’s Style Palette:

In the layers palette, just click on the Bevel and Emboss style layer and change the direction from Up to Down.

Your eyes naturally assume that light comes from above, so if you consider that and place hilights accordingly, a button that is sunken in will have hilights in the bottom portion, shadows in the top. You could just make a beveled button and change the light directions between up and down. Or adjust the angle manually. Or make a button that pops out, and then rotate it 180 degrees to get the sunken in version.
