Whenever I am running Quark and Photoshop at the same time, I have a peculiar problem with Photoshop. There is a very long delay (up to a minute) when pulling up certain menus (filters, file info, Photoshop preferences, color settings). Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be any memory-related problems.

I’ve tried it with all sorts of applications running at the same time (Netscape, Word, Illustrator) but I only have a problem when Quark is running. I have 500M of RAM, and I still have the same problem even if Quark and Photoshop are the only programs running.

Does this sound familiar? Can you help me? It’s Photoshop 7.0.1 and Quark 3.32 running on Windows 98.

Win 98 is junk. So is Quark for that matter.

You don’t mention any other system specs except the RAM. If it’s anything above a PII 450 I would stongly encourage you to get a copy of Win2K. If it’s a newer machine XP would also do the trick.

And don’t upgrade the operating system. Do a clean install.

Unfortunately, changing any hardware or software is not an option. It’s a company computer, so I’m stuck with what I have.

Your only option is to run one program at a time, your company doesn’t not want to invest in new kit, they will have to bite the cost of time.

You could try giving PS a bigger chunk or the ram?
