I work a lot with repeated pattern and wonder if anybody has heard of a plug-in that automatically repeats a pattern and updates repeated parts of the pattern when you draw in another? I’ve made actions to do the repeats for me but it would be great to see what happens with the whole pattern as I draw it…

I don’t get it. Have you tried the Pattern Maker Filter? Filter|Pattern Maker.

What exactly are you doing that inspired your post?

Okay; sorry I was a bit vague.
I’ll try again: if I have a picture repeated, say, 12 times, side by side within a larger picture. What I want to do is to see what I draw in one picture, in all the 12 pictures at once.
In other words: if I have 12 circles (3×12), side by side in a picture and draws a square in one of them, I want the square to appear in all the circles.
(I know; I’m vague again…)

I’ve often wished for something that does what you describe. I would make pattern tile making much more interactive. You would actually see what your pattern looks like, while you’re designing it, and you could touch up that slighly dark area (say) that doesn’t get obvious until it’s tiled.

I probably don’t understand fully, but what comes to mind immediately is Window|Documents|New Window (in v7). That allows you to view your current image at different magnifications, while keeping real time editing, and you can open as many as you want.
