I just installed the CS4 Trial and it’s not displaying properly. Immediately following installation, it worked properly. But, after exiting then later re-launching CS4, it comes up transparent only about 15% visibility (i.e., I can barely see it). I’ve restarted CS4, rebooted the machine, confirmed OpenGL is disabled in CS4 preferences – no dice.

Any ideas?

The whole user interface?
Can you post a screenshot?

Yes, the whole interface. Here’s a screenshot, with CS4 selected as the active application and Firefox the inactive application.

I just launched CS2 and now it’s exhibiting similar behaviors, which it never did before. Some shared library must be involved…

look in the settings for the ati control panel. i think you get there though control panel> display> advanced (could be wrong on the specifics though). it’s been a while since i’ve had ati, but i’m pretty sure i remember something with setting windows transparent.

Don’t know about Vista, but isn’t this some sort of "theme" thing?

Got it. There’s a setting in ATI’s Hydravision Properties on the HydraFX tab – Enable Window fade-in. Disabling that fixed the problem. Thanks for the tip, dave, I was pulling my hair out.
