First, less pressing issue
When I try to open PNG files, I get an error message saying "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file." Saving PNGs doesn’t work either. I can do it with Save for Web, but I still can’t open those. I really have no idea what’s up with this.
Second problem is a bit of a mess. Randomly while I am working in CS4 the pressure sensitivity will stop working. When this happens I won’t be able to save because of a "disk error." I’m unable to otherwise access any files (open, save as, etc); when I try to open something the dialog tells me it can’t find the directories, so I can’t even browse. If I go to the Performance page under Preferences, I find that the scratch disks field is now empty. When I exit the preferences can’t be saved either. At this point, GPU enhancements still work.
Recently I found a sort of workaround, but now is when it gets weird. When I change my monitor configuration (switch from two to three monitors using Ultramon), this will correct the problem and allow me to save and restart Photoshop. If I switch back to three monitors without restarting Photoshop, the problem comes back immediately. Doing this also temporarily disables GPU enhancements, but I don’t know if that’s relevant.
This works, but it’s still irritating being consistently interrupted while working. Any insights?
