Is PS CS3/4 capable of multi raw stitching? That is, vertical stitching too?

I had no significant problem of creating a panorama picture by stitching HORIZONTALLY many (up to 35) pictures. Is PS capable of automatically stitching vertically too? The idea is to accomplish multi-raw panorama. That is, if in addition to a wide view, I want also the panoramic picture cover significant hight. The idea is to sweep the horizon at a certain vertical angle.
Then, sweep at a lower level and creating a panoramic view of both sweeps. If not fully automatic, then create a photomerge and create 2 panoramic picture. Then automatically stitch the two panoramas vertically.

Thanks,
David

Yes, vertical stitching is possible.

What do you mean with "multi-raw"?

With CS3, I’ve found that I can run out of memory with too many images to stitch in PS, so I run them in PtGUI. I can handle a grid up to 4×3 with no trouble in CS3.

I was wondering about that. I can’t remember PTgui ever report out of memory.

PTGUI / PTAssembler / PanoTools is way more resource efficient than Photomerge, I’m sad to say.

For instance, PTAssembler never requires much more than 25 MB ram – no matter how large the stitch, and it peaks all four of my processors when crunching numbers, unlike Photomerge.

That’s three more than I have!

I intended to upgrage the whole computer system this weekend, but upgraded the Nikon instead!:D

One thing Photomerge does better is a linear stitch, which works well if the initial F/L is long enough. Even WA looks good, unless you know that the shapes are distorted. Once, I got a really squat, wide skirted Mt Hood!

In the time it took to write your question, you could have tried it and answered the question for yourself.

Try it with JPGs, first, to perfect your technique, then try it with RAWs.

Well, yes and no. The first time I tried it in a grid array it failed. But I did some cleanup work and tried again and it worked.
