Was it set to a different printing mode perhaps? Some drivers allow a selection of different emulations (PCL/PostScript/CanonCL) If you don’t install the same options, it may cause a driver conflict. also: did you attempt to delete the printer and have Windows automatically re-instate it? this will use the default settings and should provide the best compatibility…

I’m having the same problem too with CS4. It recognizes NONE of the printers I have installed, from an old Stylus Photo R200 to my new R2880. I get the same error message. This appears to be a problem with CS4.

Mylenium, I reinstalled with all the same options – still the same message\error from Photoshop. Is it possible to uninstall and reinstall photoshop with no hassle? I bought "Creative Suite 4 – Production Premium". If I uninstall Photoshop, is it easy to reinstall?
Nothing is easy with the Adobe Installer, unfortunately. However, you can simply overwrite any install by using the CS4 Clean Utility to unregister previous installations. I don’t think it would solve your problems, though. I’m reasonably sure that the driver is not updating some registry keys. I suggest you give this another spin.
a) Check the printer’s "Advanced Settings", particularly the ports. I’m reasonably sure you will find something like a "Epson printer on USB 1" port or something like that. Delete it. Optionally, also delete otehr non-standard ports if e.g. some digital camera has created them.
b) Right-click your "My Computer", choose "Manage" and check the device manager. Delete the USB ports listed there, particularly ones flagged with Epson of course. Likewise, delete any CF/SD/MicroSD slots associated with the printer. Now right-click the topmost computer icon and choose "Scan for new hardware". This will re-instate all ports and should also initiate an automated driver install for printers. Just make sure the printer is powered and you have the driver disks handy…

whenI attempt to delete the port, I get the message "Selected port cannot be deleted. The request is not supported", both as a user and administrator
Security issues? Did you check the permissions on the ports and in particular whether Photoshop is allowed to access them as well?
Mylenium
I’m an advanced user in most things PC, but I do not know how to confirm whether an application has permission to access a port. Can you outline the process?
Interestingly, this problem appears to be limited to one specific photoshop document. I discovered that the printer was named "Epson Photo R200 (W)" in the control panel. I changed it to ""Epson Photo R200" and am able to print any .psd except the one that flagged the original problem. Any ideas as to what might have caused this?
Greetings – this may be posted twice – not sure….
Just installed beautiful new Epson Photo R2880 – incredible printer!!! – and made 2 prints using Photoshop CS4 right out of the box with no problems. Went to make another print – and got the weird error detailed here.
Tried the port delete (thank you Mylenium !!!!) but no change. Re-installed Espon drivers. Can print from Office and Paint Shop Pro. Windows XP Home with SP3
I am also advanced PC user in most things but this isn’t working.
Can anyone help ???? !!!! Is there anyone I can call at Adobe for help on this?
Thanks so much
