I want to create type but with the colors of a background (plaid). I’m not sure if I am saying that correctly, but HELP! 🙂 I want to type out a word but it be the same color as the background (plaid) and then put that on a white background. If that makes sense.

Nenane,

Start with a layer of your plaid, make sure it is not called Background. If it is, alt-double click it to rename it to layer 0.

Click on the text tool and hold it down to select the Horizontal Type Mask tool. Type your text and confirm it in the options bar up top. Now look at the layers palette. There’s a little button at the bottom called "Add Layer Mask". Click Add Layer Mask.

Add a new layer, and drag it to the bottom, then fill that layer with white.

Peace,
Tony
