Hi,

Basic question… I’d like to change the default foreground/background colours, so that when I click on the toolbar’s Default Colour Icon (or press D), I get something other than black and white. Alternatively, I’d like to be able to save a color and call it up as the foreground (or background) colour with a key-stroke. Is this possible?

Thanks.

I don’t think its possible to change the defaults colors. If you don’t like to use the Swatches panel, maybe the solution for you could be to make an action that sets the foreground / background colors, and assign a shortcut to it.

Hi Mathias,

Thanks and the reply, and apologies for not replying right away—been dealing with CS4’s bugs…

Colours I want to use repeatedly are already saved in the swatches panel, and currently I click on them to select them. What I am looking for is another way to load saved colours without clicking in swatches, ideally both foreground and background at once (but different colours) and ideally by a shortcut key. It may sound a little silly, but for the ergonomics of my workflow, keystrokes are far preferable to running around the screen with the pointer.

I’ll try an action to see if I can make it store a specific colour, instead of bringing up a colour picker dialog that requires my input.

Thanks,
KDJ
