Hi all,
I have 220 still image all the same size. I am wanting to put a vignette on all of them by placing an oval shape using the elliptical marquee tool with 150 feather, inverting the selection and using my paint brush, painting over the area.
I have recorded the above in my actions, and when I use this actions on my next image nothing at all happens!

I was going to use batch processing, but seeing that my actions do not work, their is no point.

So my question is this – How do I create a vignette, saving it then using the vignette on all 220 images. I am using PSCS3

Thank you

josel

What does happen? Do you have Opening the image as part of your Action? That is a common problem. Do you get an error message or something like that?

To tell you the truth, recording the Paint Brush is not something I would do. Why not make the vinette shape as a Mask and apply that to all the images?

Hi Ed,
I open the image press play on actions, nothing happens, no new layer, no error messages. I have deleted the inverse and paint from the actions and have re-tried, but again nothing at all. How do you create a mask shape? and how do you save it for later use?

Thankyou josel

doesn’t vignette come with default actions?

How do you create a mask shape? and how do you save it for later use?

make a new document same size as your images
(choose transparent)
if the background layer is locked double click it

click the mask icon at bottom of palette
you will see a thumbnail next to the image thumbnail
click it to activate drawing on the mask not the layer
make your oval there
inverse it
feather it
then save it

record action
open image
drag SHIFT KEY HOLD the mask you made to the image

save as……….. or save for web
close image original.. do not save changes

end action record

run a batch using the action
