IPTC Metadata truncated by Bridge/Photoshop

Using Adobe Bridge and Photoshop CS3 I have experienced problems with image metadata sometimes suspiciously being truncated. In my case this has happened in the IPTC Source field.

There is no clear pattern when this occurs. Only that the truncation occurs after 32 characters. Metadata is added to the "IPTC Source"-field using Bridge, which allows longer strings than 32 characters. Most of the time, it works just fine. Bridge is shut down, then reopened and the image metadata is intact. Howevere, sometimes, the metadata has been truncated.

I have tried to isolate when this occurs. We use Photoshop and Bridge side by side. So usually, metadata is applied using Bridge, then the image is opened in Photoshop, adjusted and then resaved. I have checked the metadata from Photoshop as well. And it seems consistent with the metadata information shown in Bridge. So once it gets truncated it is the same in both Bridge and Photoshop.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Or have a clue on what might be the cause of this?
