Is Photoshop okay on XP Pro 64bit ?

Hi,
I don’t see PhotoshopCS4 mentioned as certified for Win XP Pro 64bit ! Now seeing that 64bit gets you more than 4Gb RAM and thats a good thing for Photoshop, is anyone using any version of Photoshop on 64bit XP pro and is it ok ?

What version are you with ?

There is no tech support if you run it on 64bit. As 64bit Pro and Photoshop are two ‘professional’ things to have, I am at a loss to know why Adobe have ignored 64bit Pro users.

….and before someone suggests I get Vista 64, where Adobe have looked at 64bit function, its not an option as my serious 3D CAD program company warn me against it, its resource hungry and not good for such progs, this after testing. Also it would be the death for progs I use that are XP ok and not supported under Vista.
I have an 8Gb PC and wish to continue with Pshop.

I use the 64 bit versions of Lightroom 2.2 and Photoshop CS4 on windows XP64.

I am having some trouble starting XP64 after installing PS CS4, and it sometimes takes a couple of restarts to get up an running. I installed Acronis at about the same time, and I really thing that program is the culprit, but I have not tried to pin down the cause. Once I am up and running, Lightroom and Photoshop work fine. I have a Q6600 and 8 GB Ram.

I am not a very advanced user. I use most features in Lightroom but not much of the brush. In PS I basically work with adjustment layers, layer masks and channels. The option to merge to panorama works fine. I have not tried to activate the GPU accelerated features.

It’s unsupported as is every other Adobe prgram I can think of. Vista 64 is however supported.

They haven’t ignored those users, they just have to set their priorities. At the time CS4 was developed, XP was officially in its end of life phase already according to Microsoft’s plans and nobody could predict Vista being adapted so unwillingly by users… That said, there’s still nothing wrong with running PS 64bit on XP64. It works nicely on my system, you just don’t get the fancy OpenGL stuff. but even that’s not a problem, as you can always run the 32bit version if you should need such a feature.
