Photomerge problem in CS3

I am trying to stitch together a fairly low contrast 3D rendering made that was divided into 4 sections. I have tired photomerge in CS3 all afternoon – with no real success (though it works with other files). Generally three of the 4 section blend well, with one that doesn’t –remaining separate from the others; or coming up with different lighter shading than the rest of the sections. Any suggestions to get it to work?

Also, I don’t know much about the layer styles that result. How can I delete them to work on the remaining section?

Sounds as if that one file is too dissimilar from the others.

What settings are you using to do the merge?

I’m using interactive layout, with the “blend images together” box checked. Are there other setting available? I think that these 4 images split evenly in the 3D software are very similar without large contrasting areas.

That should work. I would also try Auto.

When you get to the next screen, do you use Reposition Only or Perspective? Have you attempted to move it into position with the "Selected Image Tool?

You might post a link to the images and I’ll try myself, in both Photoshop and Pano Tools.

I just tried another one –divided into 9 sections. I tired the auto-align layers individually auto-aligning two sections at a time. In all cases, it didn’t work; a white (transparent) line appeared between each section (due to the layer mask). I then had to undo and then merge each section and use the 60% opaque rubberstamp tool to blur over the seams between the sections.

Any idea why it didn’t work? I’m not quite sure how to post a link to the images (I’m still on dial up here in rural New Zealand –though I’ll be back to work, with broadband, next week.)

How much overlap do you have between each image?

I tried different overlaps. None worked. With too much overlap, the adjacent images radicaly changed tone and hue.

Probably would be best to see them.

New Zealand, ‘eh? Lovely country!

How can I post a link of the image? I suppose I could put one on my web site, but I’m a bit clunky with my Dreamweaver, and I’m on dial up until next week.

By the way Brit, you don’t need a Leviathan like Dreamweaver to upload to your own web site.

Get a free Firefox add-on like "FireFTP". No skill required if you can use Explorer!
