Hi – I’m thinking of buying CS4 and if I like it and find I need the extended version at a later date, is there an upgrade path? Price in UK?

Thanks

Just read up on the extra features in extended, it should be pretty obvious if you are going to need them for your work.

And then download the demo and give it test drive.

Hi All,

Not quite as simple as that. I know I WANT the Extended version but at present I don’t think I will take advantage of the extra features. However, this doesn’t mean that at a future point (next week, next month, next year – who knows) I won’t want the extra features.

In these economic times, I can’t justify the disparity in price at present, but this doesn’t mean I won’t change my mind later if circumstances improve.

Therefore, it seems Adobe won’t let me change my mind later! I don’t ask for discount, just the ability to pay the difference if circumstances dictate finances aren’t so tight.

Cheers

I hear ya. like i said, call and ask to be sure, but we’ve had a couple people point out with version cs3 and now cs4, that basically adobe has told them you’d have to sell the standard version and buy a whole new copy of the extended version. sounds pretty ridiculous to me but that’s their business.

Clearly, ‘small fry’ freelancers mean nothing to them! I’ll send a message anyway but I won’t hold my breath!

Thanks for the info folks.

Cheers.

When going from CS3 to CS4 there was an option to go from standard to extended, as well as an option to downgrade from extended to standard. I did the upgrade, which worked fine. I’m not sure if there’s a path for upgrading within a single version from standard to extended, but there may well be one if you escalate with customer service.
