I have included a web gallery (created in Photoshop) to my website. Everything works fine; however, after scrolling through the photos there isn’t a link to help return to the site’s home page. The only option is to click the back arrow many times until you get there. Any ideas how to do this?

Thank you.

Someone else asked the same question recently. If you can change the HTML code for your link to the web gallery you could add TARGET="blank" like this HREF="http://www.nnnnnnnnnnnn.co.uk" TARGET="_blank".
This will open your slide show in a new window so when you close it your web site will still be in view. There are other ways to do it but this way is quite easy.

will pop up blockers prevent it from coming up?

No, it’s not a pop-up, it’s a new window. Look at the links page on my site www.gjphotographic.co.uk. All the links open in a new window.

That’s strange, every computer that I’ve looked at my site on opens the links in a new window as designed. What about the Aerial Photos page, if you click on a thumbnail does it open in a different window?

Kat,

Your IE7 settings may be the same as mine, for which I generally keep the Pop-Up Settings fitering level to "High", thus blocking all pop-ups. At this level, I find all of Geoff’s links for his Aerial Photos (but curiously not those on other pages) and text links on the Links page are treated as pop-ups. At the Medium level that automatically blocks "most" pop-ups, all links open to a new window for me. IE7 treats all links creating new windows or tabs as pop-ups, and you can control how they behave by changing the Tabbed Browser Settings options for "When a pop-up is encountered". Here’s how to get there:

IE7 Tools Menu (or Control Panel) > Internet Options > General tab page > Click "Settings" in the Tabs category and then check the option desired in the resulting dialog.

Regards,

Daryl

Daryl, thanks for that info. Looks like I need to make some changes to my site to cover different settings. It was first made before IE7 came into use. I’ve got some web galleries that I made for someone else on my webspace, I’d better check them out too.

Hi Geoff,

Glad to help. Yeah, it’s hard to keep up with the changes, when you’ve got not only multiple browsers and versions to consider but also the various add-ons that might affect things. Of course, one probably can’t design a site with too much concern for the latter, but more just what are the known browser-specific foibles.
