I have many PCD files that I am unable to open in PS CS4. Please send me the information where I can obtain a plug-in for the File Formats folder.

Thanks. Hays

Are you talking about Kodak Photo CD files? If so, you need the Photo CD.8BI plug in. Look on your Photoshop CD to see if its in the goodies or copy it from an old version of PS. I had the same problem
with CS4 and PhotoCD files but after putting the plug in in the Plugins/File Formats folder I was able to open the files. They can’t be opened in Bridge though.

Geoff,

I have looked in the Photoshop Application disks all the way back to version 2.0 and have been unable to find the file format plug-in CD.8BI.

Any more ideas where I might find it?

Thanks. Hays

I’ve looked on my CS disc and I can’t see it, I think it just got installed from the cab files so you can’t see it on the disc, but I copied it from the CS plug-ins folder which is still installed on this computer.
Do you want me to email it to you? If so you will have to post your address. It’s only 132kb. (Hurry as it’s past my bed time here in the UK).

Adobe stopped including it for CS4 because it has not been supported for a long time. If you still have your CS3 disks laying around, you should be able to find it in the Goodies folder there:

….\Goodies\Optional Plug-Ins\Kodak PhotoCD

No guarantee it will work with CS4 but you can give it a shot.

Once you get it to work, I strongly suggest you convert those files ASAP to something like TIFF so you don’t have the problem in the future.

Geoff,

It would be nice if you sent the plug-in to me. My email is:

Thanks again. Hays

Hays, I’ve sent it to you. Put it in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\File Formats. It should work in Photoshop but not in Bridge.
Geoff.
