Convert to sRGB profile. Then save for web.

If you are worried about the image displaying on a misconfigured Mac or a newer wide gamut display, include the sRGB profile when you save for web.

This happens regardless of color profile. (I tried what you suggested, just to make sure) It’s really getting frustrating. When I save an image, I expect it to be exactly the way I see it in the original file, not "pretty close".

Are you saying that you have converted your original image to sRGB before entering the SFW dialog?

Are you certain that you are not working with an image in any other color profile (Adobe RGB, ProPhoto RGB, etc)?

If using a wide gamut display, are you sure that you are attaching the ICC profile in the SFW dialog?

In what application are you seeing the image with odd color?

your color management is off somehow. you’re working in photoshop which is color managed and you’re seeing changes when you move to an unmanaged app. you need to get you system’s color profile in order if you want exact, and not "pretty close".

Jim: I did open the "Convert to Profile" option and select sRGB before entering Save for web…

And to both Jim and Dave: I’m seeing the color change described in my original post within the Save for web dialog box. This is still within Photoshop. So somewhere between editing the original file and OPENING the Save for web dialog the colors are shifting or something. It isn’t a drastic change, but it matters when I’m trying to adhere to color standards. The original stays the same, but the preview in the save for web dialog and subsequent saved image is different.

yes, it’s showing you what it will look like outside a color managed application.

did you read the link i gave? that’s a good place to get going. ian is a pretty knowledgeable guy when it comes to this color stuff (and quite a few other areas!) you should start by making sure you’ve correctly profiled your monitor. i don’t think cs3 came with a calibration tool. if color is really important to you you might want to invest in one. they start around 100 bux.
