Hi,

I have heard of but have not seen a filter like this, but it is supposedly used to remove a unwanted part of a picture. For example: I have a picture of my two sons and in the background is a lady eating. I want to be able to eliminate the lady without destroying the picture and background. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using the cloning tool?

There is no such thing!
An old lady eating and your sons are pixels, exactly the same thing.

Stephan,

You forgot about the Filter>Sketch>RemoveOldLadyEating filter.

You can adjust the amount by changing the "threshOld" slider 😉

People are always asking about how to "remove" something from their images. You can’t do that because the image didn’t record anything "behind" the old lady. What you CAN do is paste something else on top of her. Find something else in the image (or another image) that would not look out of place there. Perhaps an empty table, or even a big bush. Then copy and paste. If you want it to look really correct you will need to match the shadow angles, the contrast and even the noise texture to the rest of your image.

That’s called "learning to use Photoshop".
