Re-install the graphics driver. Apparently something replaced/ changed/ damaged your OpenGL routines, making any program that uses them cause an aerror…

Neil,
There is a December 2008 update on the microsoft download area for directx 9c. Vista still uses 9c for lots of software. Also would not hurt to download the listed 2008 C++ runtime.

OpenGL has nothing to do with DirectX so that wouldn’t solve anything. Try this, completely uninstall the graphics drivers:

1)Install Driver Sweeper from < http://downloads.guru3d.com/Driver-Sweeper-beta-2.0.0-downlo ad-2186.html>
2)Uninstall driver using Programs and Features from the Control Panel
2)Reboot in safe mode: press and hold F8 while your computer boots up (You should get a list of options if you’ve done it right) and select Safe Mode from he list.
3)Run Driver Sweeper while in safe mode and remove any leftover traces of the graphics card driver
4)Restart computer into normal mode

And only then install the new drivers.

You should be able to delete it while in safe mode and then replace it with one downloaded from the net(just google opengl32)
