Don’t bother. You need the installation media to properly install the software.

You could just try to copy the Photoshop folder over and see if it starts, if i remember correctly Photoshop isn’t that picky about being properly installed
Unfortunately, the Registry items won’t be there.

Just mark it as answered and forget it!
thar ya go. you know, i’ve enjoyed helping here over the years. gonna be sad to see it go. 🙁
I can not find the original Creative Suite cds; I think they may have been "accidentally" thrown away by someone other than myself. Long story.
Uah… Who would be so obviously plain stupid? I mean, one can throw away the boxes, manuals and gift wrap, but by all means keep the media in a safe place. *yikes* Anyway, as the others said – without the original install CDs that is a no go and unless the missing disc turns up magically, an upgrade to CS4 is the only way to get going (and that’s assuming you know your serials and have registered them).

Won’t work. Anything post-PS7 is tied to the activation system and cannot be revived by simply typing in the serial.

guess i wasn’t clear enough there. Photoshop should be able to start up and run, it’s just that the activation system will kick in and tell you to activate but once you activate the program should be able to work just fine
Might work on a Mac. But Windows has this thing known as The Registry (and it’s a jungle in there… 8-o )

I sense a TV series script here.
Chandra will have to find someone with the EXACT version that might be willing to burn a back up copy. If she comes back and posts her contact info perhaps someone can help.

I guess i wasn’t clear enough there. ah no. 🙂
whats with all this registry registry? most programs write in the registry but don’t mind it if there’s no data there because they have default values that they use in cases like those
I googled "photoshop usb flash drive"(without the quotes) and i found a guide on how to install cs2 on a usb drive, maybe there’s also some guide for cs1 but i haven’t found it
Zeno: The operative words are "to install" and thusly create the registry entries. Even if the registry values are empty, they still have to be there. You’re definitely talking Mac not PC.
i’m sorry but i never saw a real life mac, only in some pictures. On the other hand i’ve been messing around with registries and stuff like that for quite a while to know what i’m talking about. Anyway, i’m done with this thread, too much OT

If someone would be willing to help, that would be fantastic! My personal email is As far as the cds being "accidentally" thrown away, let’s just say that some people are petty and vindictive. It’s definitely something out of a daytime soap opera.
Anyway, if anyone can help, please contact me!
