I have a Hp tx2z. Its got a screen made by Ntrig and not by wacom. So instead of using the standard wintab api it uses standard hid based USB instructions.

The Dell Latitude Xt and XT2 both use these screens.

I was told by the people at Ntrig that Adobe is in fact working on writing photoshop to read data from the Ntrig digitizer.

Ntrig has been very negligent during the whole course of trying to resolve this problem and I believe that they are blowing smoke. I don’t think that adobe is working on this and am wanting to confirm this.

I love LOVE LOVE photoshope, I have spent years learning the software and learning to draw in photoshop is one of the greatest joys I have. There is no software out there like it. Will someone please contact me and let me know whats going on?

is there indeed a fix on the way? Myself and 10’s of thousands of Dell and Hp users would be ecstatic beyond belief if we could go back to using photoshop. (currently no use in upgrading) This way we won’t have to find another way or another inferior program to try to satisfy our artistic needs.

I hope to hear back soon!

I think you mean "NTrig’s driver software doesn’t implement the APIs used by professional applications that work with tablet pressure".

Adobe has asked NTrig to fix/update their drivers. As far as I know, we haven’t heard back from them yet.

No, I meant what i said,

this problem is two sided and we have two companies who can do something to fix the problem. One company is great, and one company is unbelievably arrogant. Ntrig I don’t like. Adobe i do like.

regardless… both companies are loosing money and clout due to the issue. Someone on the good side "Adobe" can fix the problem just as readily as Ntrig. The first one to fix it has the most to gain and its not an overly large problem to fix for those with the know how.

I agree that Ntrig is arrogant and stubborn. Adobe I’m hoping with take the steps and play big brother to this problem and not little sister waiting for an inferior less mature company to take responsibility. We both know it is their problem, but adobe is still loosing out because of it. And adobe, you can fix their mistake and benefit from it.

Win 7 will likely find its biggest success off this digitizers multitouch setup. whether i like them or not, you can only help yourself out by updating the wonderful unrivaled software that you create to be even more flexible then it already is.

I can’t wait to use photoshops brushes again. =)

take care, your not the best for nothing,

You want Adobe to introduce extra complexity and possibly fragility into their code in order to try and support a hardware vendor who doesn’t want to write complete drivers? Really?

And other applications would have to do something similar to support the NTrig hardware. And every application that did that would have to add testing for a completely new code path to support that limited set of hardware. The reason we support standard APIs is so we DON’T have to try writing to and testing each different piece of hardware.

It makes far more sense for NTrig to support the full set of pressure/tablet APIs instead of the limited set they currently support. That way all applications would get the support.

Dear Chris,

My frustration with Ntrig knows no bounds. =) I think they are idiots and it makes me angry that i have to deal with this problem. I have sent numerous people to the BBB to file formal complaints against Hp specifically (as Ntrig is based in Israel and is paid by Hp) I don’t think they care about these issues. I care and don’t have many avenue for possible resolution. I’ve sent over 30 emails to Ntrig with absolutely no information of worth coming back from them. I feel like I’m beating my head against a wall with them.

Adobe,.. is different. You are a reliable company that responds to questions and concerns and you seem to care about your customers and try to make them happy.

I don’t care if the answer is simple or not, I want to be able to use photoshop again. Regardless of the probability of added complexity reducing stability in your software I would still like Adobe to try.

Will Adobe still benefit from taking the reins on this problem. Yes, you definitely will.

is the easiest fix being implemented by Ntrig… doubtful.
