Saving a TIFF file as a jpeg in CS3

Recently I have been unable to save tiff and psd files as jpegs. When I select "save as" from the file menue I do not have jpeg as an option in the drop down menue. I have always been able to save files as jpegs until recently.

make sure your tiffs are 8 bits per channel before doing the Save As.

How do you determine if your files are 8 bits per channel and how do you change them at the time you save as. I don’t think my Canon Rebel xt is capable of higher than 8 bit color.

Open Image/mode and it will say what it is and options to change it.

I changed it to 8 bit and I was able to save the image as a jpeg. Thanks. My problem is solved.
