This is really a Wacom question (and the problem occurs in other apps, including Paint), but I figure you folks here know Wacom tablets better than anyone. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

My Intuos (GD) tablet has served me well, but in the past year or so I have found an increasing problem with the pen continuing to write after I lift the pen from the tablet. Or that it writes before I have touched the pen to the tablet, starting from about 1/4 inch away.

I have tried the latest driver and also tried reverting back to the oldest driver still available at Wacom.com. I am running PS CS3 under WinXP, but I recall it happening also with CS1 and in PS 7. Is the there a particular setting that is good for correcting this problem? I have tried pressure and tilt, without much success. Thanks!

I don’t think folks here knows more than folks there, and just FYI that’s how *all* tablet works, not just Wacom but way way back around 2 decades ago on my early *wired* tablets and same with puck. The pen should be able to pick the signal around 3/4 to 1" away.

Thanks, but here is what I discovered:

The point was jammed too hard and too far into the pen. I pulled the point out a bit, then used the pen a little more gently, and the problem was fixed.

Yeah, I used old, wired tablets, too, around 2 decades ago, and CalComp, etc, none of which could touch Wacom’s quality. But respectfully, I disagree that they have to draw when you are not touching the tablet. There’s a difference between picking up the signal, when you’re using it as a mouse, and drawing an unwanted line. I’m glad mine doesn’t do that, anymore. Thanks again.

YOu have the right to agree or disagree which won’t hurt me a bit, but that is how the tablet works. And if your doesn’t do it any more, and if you want a normal working tablet then send it back to Wacom to ask for the one that DOES DO IT because it’s the way tablet works.

But again, you have the right to be happy with what you believe, it too won’t hurt me a bit.
