I’ve just jumped through a few hoops including installing the nikon transfer program that came with the camera, and it still balks at opening these files. Is version 7 just too old?

thanks!

Most likely no as the later versions of the raw converter have been updated to suit the current version of photoshop. Each version has the latest camera types added.

What you may have to use is DNG files. The DNG converter is up on the Adobe site.

Thanks for the reply. I made it simple for myself. I 86’d photoshop and downloaded the newest version of Paint shop pro photo X2. Opens the NEF files just fine. All the program i need. PS has too many buttons anyway.

But PSP doesn’t save the files very well.

Try both and then compare them.
