I afraid the answer is no for what I’ve read but will I be able to load and use Photoshop CS 2, version 9 I think it is

Hard to say til you, or someone else tries. FWIW I think it will work fine. Windows 7 does support "Windows XP mode". It’s a free download from microsoft.

BTW – 64 bit Windows 7 is the configuration that I recommend to friends and customers – very zippy with plenty of address space as those images keep getting larger and larger.

I don’t have any Photoshop version installed on my new built system with Windows 7 64-bit, but I don’t see why CS2 won’t work with Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit

In general, you will fine quite afew old/new programs won’t work with Windows 7. BUT Windows 7 has option to run as older Windows from Windows 95 to Windows Vista, and I have to use this option on several programs.

Coincidentally, I came across this page today :

Not tried it myself, but it sounds like you can persuade the XP Mode package to install into Sun’s VirtualBox.

Thanks again, I won’t be able to use the fix virtual thing from Microsoft because I have the home edition. Wonder why it’s not listed?
