Is this common?
Using elliptical or rectangular marquee tool will draw a circle or square if shift is held down
but will not draw from the centre if alt is held down. Friends who also use PS7 also have this problem.
Resetting PS tools or on startup has no effect.

PS6, on the same m/c, used to be OK but now behaves the same as PS7.

Any ideas??

TIA

Try starting the marquee with only Alt down then hit Shift and it should work. You might have better luck using the Shape tools.

Still does not work.
Thanks for the suggestion of the shape too, not quite the same though.

Anyone any further ideas? Anyone else have this problem?

You may want to see if the problem exists elsewhere if both PS6 and 7 are affected. I just tried it in both CS and 8 and both worked fine with any order of Shift/Alt presses. Good luck.
