I'm going to build a desktop and would like some suggestions on what
hardware is needed and what capacities. I'm not a game player. Specific
recommendations for hardware are welcome.

Im not an expert but RAM is very important, at least 4 GB of RAM
because Photoshop van become very heavy when working big (2000> px)
A decent videocard is also important (50 - 100$)

Go to adobe.com and look at their system requirements and a list of
tested video devices.

of course you have to be careful with ram as 32bit os won't use all
the 4gb and certainly not above it, so you will have to choose a 64bit
os
