Is anyone having problems with loading a large number of files into Photoshop cs5?
I have a Mac Pro 2.8 8-core 2008 model, osx 10.6.4, and a gtx 285 graphics card and 16gb ram.
Every time I try to open a large series of photos (not huge files but, say, 100 files or so) in Photoshop cs5, the computer screen goes into a flickering glitch and everything freezes. The only way out is to turn the computer off.
This happens every time.
It doesn’t happen with cs3, which is also on the same machine. Can anyone please advise on whether this is a cs5 bug or perhaps a mismatch with my gtx 285, or even having both versions of Photoshop on the same machine?
Thanks.

Don’t do that. It’s insane. Why in the world would you need to open 100 files? I do not mean to be disrespectful, but I am curious!

It’s necessary.
They are a series of photos for an animation.
They need to be resized and sometimes cropped and have levels adjusted in a batch action.

But the point is that this has never been a problem in any of the previous versions, so why does it happen in cs5?
I suspect that cs5 doesn’t work as well on Macs.

There is absolutely no need to open all photos at once for a batch action.

So do not open them all for a batch. Oy! Put them into a folder for the action.

i suspect that each will have to edited individually so a batch action wouldn’t help him, However there is no need to load in the 100 pics, as you are only editing onw at a time, but you woudl need the previuos pic for reference.

all these advices aren’t really helping him as to why cs5 is doing this. Do you have other versions you can try? cs3 for example. I personally find cs5 sluggish compared to cs3
