I purchased my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 yesterday and I am wondering how long the installation process takes. Initially, the software seemed to download quickly, but for the last 4 hours, it appears to be trying to load ‘installing language-dependent files……Please wait’ Fine, but for how long?

Has something gone wrong? Someone’s advice would be most appreciated. I’m running on Windows XP Home Edition. Thanks.

Elements should load quickly on most any appropriate OS. My guess is that XP is having problems. I would quit the installation and run the "Error Checking" utility on the drive that has XP (Start>My Computer>Right click of your XP drive>Properties>Tools).

How much free space do you have on the drive? Has it been defragmented recently? After the basic housekeeping checks, I would try installing again.

Still not working after taking your advice.

What are Language-dependent files anyway?

When I view my ‘c’ drive, everything appears to be there, however, when I click on the Elements Icon, the message appearing is….

"This application has failed to start because VID.mr.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Any further advice you may be able to give…..apart from ‘give-up’!

You might try posting to the Elements forum on the chance someone else has run into this problem. <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?14@@.1de85621>

If it is corrupt Windows XP files, you may need to run sfc /scannow, but I would make that a last resort.
