Text isn’t sharp

Hi out there!

At the moment I’m trying to write some sentences in Photoshop, but no one of the letters is really ‘sharp’.
What’s the reason for this??
I already tried different fonts and different amounts of Pixels per Inch, but this didn’t make it better . 🙁

Who can help???

And maybe the zoom level. Try Ctrl + Alt + 0.

Are you rasterizing the type then enlarging it? Type in PS doesn’t seem to enlarge very well and it’s hard to see until you print. It works better to just re-enter the size you want. I hope this is something that’s improved in 8.

I neither resized it by transforming after rastering nor use an file which isn’t large enough, I think … last Time it was Din A4! 😉

Antialias has an effect on it, but it semms to be not shap even in spite of this.

Perhaps I should try to print it, my idea is that Photoshop perhaps doesn’t show it as it’s looking on real paper! 😕

Type in PS6 & 7 displays pixelized at the resolution of the file, but being vector in nature, it should take on the resolution of whatever printer it is sent to. A case of what-you-see-is-NOT-what-you-get.

If the type is maintained as vector, then the various antialias settings will only affect display.

To illustrate, create a new 36ppi image and typeset some 12 point type. Totally illegible on the screen but prints out OK to a postscript printer.
