I’ve recently bought this monitor – mainly for use with photoshop and scanning.
Despite good reviews on the web and in user groups I am dissapointed with it’s performance:-

1) There appears to be an internal power supply regulation/stability problem such that the overall brightness of the display decreases when the size of a white image on a dark background increases (i.e. when the current through the CRT increases). This is especially noticable in ‘Picture’ mode.

2) The display becomes very blurred in ‘Picture’ mode when contrast is increased above about 75%.

3) Dynamic convergence at the edges of the screen is not particularly accurate.
Only the static convergence is user adjustable.

4) RFI from the monitor interferes with my Microsoft wireless mouse & keyboard such that the range is reduced from the normal 3 meters to a few inches.

5) There is noise that can be seen on a plain white background until the monitor has warmed up.

6) The horizontal position drifts by a few mm to the right as the monitor warms up.

I complained to IIyama who agreed to swap the monitor for another of the same model. When I tried the replacement it was just as bad and also had an intermittent menu navigation button.

The 22" models that we have at work appear to suffer from the same problems although most people tend to use them in ‘Text’ mode so that problems 1 and 2 are not so obvious.

Has anyone else noticed these defects?

So turn the contrast down.

No suggestions on the other difficulties. How expensive was this monitor? Hmm. I see prices around UKP 240. Maybe there’s a reason why some other monitors cost more.

No. I’ve been using Iiyama for years without any problems. I’d recommend them, and do, to anyone.
