Current set-up:

In theory I don’t see why it won’t work. BUT, whether you will see any real benifit. On a machine that slow and gain in the program will be lost in the how slow it runs.

I recently upgraded to Photoshop 7 from Photoshop 5, similar system, 450 mhz P-2, Windows 98 SE, 256 megs RAM. Photoshop 7 runs just fine, or as well as 5 did anyway. Of course, I would agree that it’s a fair bit slower than it would be on a new, fast computer, but it’s OK for me.

Point well taken, thank you Richard.

PS v5.0 runs fairly fast on my P2-400, I don’t mind
waiting a few seconds for a filter effect.

It depends what you mean by work. If you mean will it launch, then yes it will. If you mean can I get anything done in a reasonable time….

Using v7’s new features is what matters. I don’t mind waiting. Thanks for the reply Hecate.

I don’t really think the bottleneck is in the computer – my SGI 320 should run like a demon compared to my laptop when I am running PhotoShop& – speed was almost exactly the same

but then maybe I am doing something wrong, which is extremely likely

🙂

I’ll try PS7 and hope it works/runs reasonably on my machine. IF it doesn’t, I can drop back to v5.0 Thanks for the input Steve. Joe
