I have checked the General Preference "Zoom Resizes Windows," but none of the ways I try to zoom the image causes the window size to change. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jason

Isn’t there also a checkbox on the Options Bar when the Zoom tool is selected? I believe that has to be checked also.

Yes there is. I tried checking it, too, but it made no difference. I’m wondering if I misunderstand what this function means. I presume it means that the window grows to just contain the image as its size changes.

That is correct. Works here with 7.

1. Make sure the option in Preferences is set.

2. The checkbox on the Zoom option bar relates to multiple documents — not relevant here.

3. Use Ctrl with the plus and minus keys, not Ctrl+Alt.

Hmm. Not the way it works here in PS7. I’ll check CS tomorrow at work but it seems unlikely they’d change this behavior. I’d try checking the Options Bar anyway.

Ctrl with plus and minus keys is a clumsy way to zoom IMHO.

Well, clumsy it may be, but it worked. I had gotten ctrl/alt/+- to work briefly yesterday, but only when the Zoom tool was active. If I switched to another tool, it didn’t work. If I then switch back to Zoom, it didn’t work either (regardless of the Zoom Resizes option on the tool). Ctrl with +/- seems to work under all circumstances (so far..).

Thanks!

You’re welcome. Still trying to figure out how the previous poster thinks a keyboard shortcut is clumsier than a separate tool.. πŸ˜‰

The keyboard shortcut Spacebar plus Crtrl or Alt is a lot easier to use in my opinion than Ctrl and + or -, which are way far across the keyboard. If Spacebar isn’t working you may have other issues.

And I was right about the Options Bar as well. There are two checkboxes. The one I was referring to works in CS exactly as it has in previous versions of Photoshop.

By the way, Alt-Ctrl with + or – was never the correct shortcut so you are lucky to get it working at all.
