I have PS CS3 extended (WIN XP) and tonight I clicked on Bridge and got error message, "could not complete your request because PS was unable to find the JavaScript plug-in" Doesn’t work from PS, but I have the link to Bridge on my desktop and it opens from there.
Anyone know what this is and how I can fix it?
I really don’t want to install PS again, I’ve done it twice already (same computer) not sure if it’s true but seems like I heard something about having to get a new serial number if you install it too many times.. I’ll keep playing around with it, though probably not tonight, and see if something changes.

I downloaded the newest java last night after I posted here. Didn’t fix it. Wasn’t sure if it was overall (Java) or PS related. Everything else seems to be working. And I can open Bridge from it’s own link and get to PS (after) from there.
I looked in the files on the PS cd and couldn’t see anything that might relate (to replace or put in). I’ve only reinistalled PS CS3 twice since I bought it and once was after I had to reinstall Windows XP (first time since I bought computer 5 years before). I think if I want to reinstall PS after the limit I have to call Adobe for a new serial number?

try this

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Did that. Took out the java I had in before that. Seems like Java and JavaScript are two different things. Thought there might be a solution and someone here would know.

I am not sure of what you guys are referring to regarding reinstall limits. I have gone through PS7, CS, CS2, CS4, and CS5 on six different computers (all Macs), but the same version is only on two at any time. The "CS" purchase permits me to install on two computers, and reinstall on the same computers any number of times. If I want to install CS5 on a new computer I must first deactivate it on on one of the two computers it is active on. To do that go to the "Help" menu and select "Deactivate".
If you had "CS" installed on a computer you sold, or one which has been scrapped, or the HD has been upgraded with OS reinstall without "CS" being deactivated first, you will have to contact Adobe for a fix.

I have never found this to be an issue, and I have had to do this twice in the past both because of major hard drive crashes, the last time being four years ago. I have never been given a new serial number.

I think it must have been CS5 I was reading about, where you had to deactivate first after installing it again, after so many times. I have only had mine on the same computer, so it should be fine. I probably will reinstall it, I can’t find an answer or a fix to the problem, but found several places where people were asking what to do about it. It’s not a major problem, just if I have PS open and want to open bridge I have to go do it from the desktop. I just like things to work the way they should and find out why they don’t (if possible) just to know.

It seems to be solved. I got out the Photoshop CS3 box to reinstall it, when I went to drag my plug-ins (and brushes, etc) out onto the desktop to save them, I couldn’t find the plug-in folder in the main setup (in Program Files>Adobe> etc) I looked around, saw a folder CS3 BRIDGE went through that and THAT had the plug in folder in it. Didn’t think Bridge needed the plug-ins, so dragged them into the main program, tried it, and it worked. Bridge opened from PS the way it’s supposed to.
Don’t know how Plug-ins got in the Bridge folder, and I know files can get accidentally drag-dropped into another folder at times. Maybe Bridge was looking for a JavaScript to open the plug-ions it picked up on, that weren’t supposed to be there.
I also have another plug-in folder on the C drive that’s linked. Today, when I was putting the problem in Google, and finding others who had the same problem, I kept coming to my own post asking about it and the responses from this newsgroup. On different groups. I thought "someone has the exact same problem as me!" Then I realzied it was me LOL So, if someone else does have this problem this might help. Check for folders that aren’t supposed to be in Bridge, Though Bridge would open from the link, on it’s own.
