I had trouble scanning yearbooks because the pages are all "dotted." Someone told me to scan at a high resolution and then to resize down. This worked great. I can’t remember what settings I used. What resolution should I scan with, and what should I resize to. Tim

Most scanning programs have a "descreening" or "moiré removal" setting. It may be on the main page or it may be in the advanced mode. It is designed to provide better scans of halftones as found in yearbooks.
